From Large Mountain down

The Ancient Inywakna[]

The Inywakna (also Inywakna in Inywak) are the only inhabitants of the Inywak Archipelago and the mainland "Large Mountain" (also called Kȟidąmila Ŋaka). They are concentrated along the northern reaches of the main continent and they are the northern-most tribe on the planet.

The archipelago is usually forest-y. The northern islands are very barren and hilly.

The bay areas are low and are inhabited by slightly more tanned Inywakna.

In every village there is about an average of 50-75 people of which 20 are women and around 30 are men.

The main diet of an Inywak is seal, moose, anchiornis, bear, killer whale, various

leaves, flowers, mushrooms, liquorice, and other bits and bobs.

The village is full of around 12 huts, or manykłaakena, which are yurt-like structures built with wood lattice, skins, and cob(mixed with adobe). The wood lattice is basically a support mechanism on the inside, the second layer is made from sheep wool, caribou skins, and felt. The third layer is made from cob dyed a light creamy colour. The cob is painted and carved with depictions of yaks, mooses, whales, and various other natural, tengriistic, and auroratic symbols. The door is usually made of yak wool which is dyed various bright colours and is weaved into various patterns by the women and girls of the village. When building a hut, the whole family or maybe even village gets involved. It is a communal activity and is fun for the children and both men and women.

Men usually go on hunting trips every three days and they "try" to bring back food for their family to live while they're on leave for the next three days before they go hunting once again.

The women and sometimes children learn how to weave with a loom made with horse hair and wood. The final products are either hung around the hut or are given to other families on Gačq`un day, which is the day where every 9 days (which is equivilant to a week in the culture) the village gets together in the main hut and gives their products to the hunter who has hunted the most animals so the hunter can show off his prizes by hanging them from the wooden lattice in his hut.
